Today : A Road Through The Sea

TODAY’S VERSE
Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters—a pathway no one knew was there! Psalms 77:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
This is from a Psalm written by Asaph. It is a Psalm where he spews out all his distress and frustration with God and the way his life was going. He says, “Has the Lord rejected me forever? Will he never again be kind to me? Is his unfailing love gone forever? Have his promises permanently failed? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he slammed the door on his compassion?” And if we were honest, we would admit that there are times when we have thought the same thing. But something happened. He started to remember all that God had done in the past and started to overlay that on the present and the future. Like you would with a business that is going bad, you would look over the situation, remember business principles, apply them to your situation and start to make corrections. Circumstances were horrible but God’s love and power were the same. Asaph began to focus on all the good God had done and writes, “Is there any god as mighty as you? You are the God of great wonders!” And then he remembered, (I love this) that God led His people out of Egypt via a road, but not an ordinary road. No, a road that led through the Red Sea! A road no one would have ever thought of. That is the God we follow. That is the God we can trust in. He has a road for you. No matter how bad it looks, follow Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for complaining. I have forgotten so many times how wonderful You really are. I have forgotten about the Red Sea. Help me to trust You more. Today I commit to follow the path You have for me.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I will trust in God
Visualize yourself with the Tribe of Israelites leaving Egypt. You are fleeing for your life on a road that is heading right toward the Red Sea. You have the Army of Egypt chasing you and a Sea of water in front of you. Picture yourself getting closer to the Red Sea and starting to complain. Feel the distress well up inside you. Just as you feel like giving up, sense God give you faith enough to trust Him. Begin to feel hope. Take a deep breath and picture the Red Sea open in front of your eyes. Sense your joy and begin to walk to the other side. As you cross the Sea see yourself full of joy and praising God. Apply this same joy to today as you decide to trust in God for whatever comes your way.
