TODAY’S VERSE
“I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.” Galatians 3:5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
In today’s verse Paul asks a serious question. Does God give us the Holy Spirit and work miracles because we are good? The answer should be obvious. But is it? Frankly, I feel the question hits a nerve! The Galatians fell into the same trap that many of us do. We don’t know how to receive love. We have a deep seated need to earn it. Now theologically in our head we know we can’t “earn” our salvation or the Holy Spirit or God’s favor, but that doesn’t stop our heart from trying. Somewhere along the line we emotionally learned that we must perform, we must do right, we must make good if we are going to be loved. And so we have our own kind of “law”. Paul’s answer was simple. He wrote, “Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.” The message that He loves you, that His grace is sufficient, that His death on the cross was all that was needed for your salvation. Today, do not turn your head and look at the ground in shame when He says, “I love you.” There is nothing to earn here. He loves you just as you are. My friend, you can keep your dancing shoes on if you want, but not to perform for Him. You don’t have to. Rather dance, just dance in Praise for His great love for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I am driven to perform, but You are driven to love. Thank You that Your love wins. I surrender my need to perform for You and accept Your amazing love and forgiveness. Thank You for loving me.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I accept God’s unconditional love
Today, picture yourself before God without the pressure to perform for Him. Try to feel what it feels like to be totally loved, totally accepted without having to perform. Sense that all your sins are forgiven. Visualize God being happy to be with you, just the way you are! Fill your heart with the fact that you are totally loved, totally accepted, never having to prove your worth. He already has!
