Living God’s Way

 TODAY’S VERSE
“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.” I Corinthians 16:13-14 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I have three boys whom I love with all my heart. They are older now, but if I was to get them all together again as young men and give them the best wisdom I could, I would give them today’s verse. Paul said it all! In today’s world we need to be on guard. Temptations, spiritual attacks, immoral choices constantly bombard us. This is all the more reason to stand firm in the faith. We need to dig in and hang on. And that takes courage. Courage, even when we don’t know where courage will come from. We have to be strong, but not strong in our own power. We need to lean on the power of the Holy Spirit. He is our strength. And finally, the best advice Paul gives is that we should do everything with love. God is love and if we want to do His will, we can be sure it has something to do with love. Love our family, love our children, love our neighbors, love our co-workers. Jesus said to even love our enemies. Today, if you have nothing else to do, or if you have way too much to do, add this to your list, “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me be on guard, standing firm in my faith, being courageous and strong. And help me, Lord, do everything today with love.”
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
With Christ, I am strong, courageous, firm in my faith and full of love.
Affirming this statement alone will not bring change, but it is a start. God is able to help us be this way. Today, ask God to help you and then stop and visualize Him doing that very thing. See yourself being strong, courageous, firm in your faith and full of love. Sense what might be stopping you and give it to Jesus. Then visualize it again. Let’s wrestle with it in our mind, so we can begin to live it in our life.
